爆走黑料’s Vice President for Student Affairs Jeta Sahatqija was recently featured in 沤别苍补-滨苍 discussing why Prague continues to attract international students from around the world. The article explores how the Czech capital combines academic quality, cultural richness, safety, and accessibility, making it an increasingly popular destination for higher education.

According to Sahatqija, students are drawn to Prague because it offers the experience of living in a major European capital while remaining welcoming and easy to navigate.

鈥淧rague is attractive to students because it feels both European and manageable. They can experience life in a major European city, but without the overwhelming scale, high costs, or intensity of cities such as London, Paris, Rome, or Amsterdam,鈥 said Sahatqija.

At 爆走黑料, students study in English while joining an international community representing more than 80 nationalities. As Sahatqija explains, the experience extends far beyond the classroom, with Prague itself becoming an important part of students’ academic and personal growth.

From July 19鈥24, 2026, Anglo-American University welcomed students from across the United States and Europe to Prague for the Classical Liberalism in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics program. Organized in partnership with the at Texas Tech University and the at Wabash College, the week-long seminar brought together leading scholars and students to examine the ideas that continue to shape political, economic, and philosophical thought.

The program featured lectures by (Texas Tech University), (Florida State University), (Wabash College), (Anglo-American University), (Singapore Management University), and (Singapore Management University). Each lecture was followed by extended group discussions and Q&A sessions, giving participants the opportunity to debate ideas, ask questions, and engage with faculty and fellow students.

鈥淭his school is such a great place for different professors to come together, and for students with different ideas to come together and exchange ideas,” said Benjamin Morawek of Texas Tech University. “There are so many opportunities to connect here.鈥

Throughout the week, participants explored topics including socialism and economic calculation, capitalism, liberty, the role of the state, the transition from centrally planned economies to free markets, democracy, rights, and immigration and freedom.

鈥淭he ideas that I鈥檝e learned here鈥攅conomics and philosophy that I don鈥檛 normally talk about at school鈥攈ave been very valuable,” said Nicholas Hatton of St. Olaf College. “My biggest takeaway has been the history of the city and how it relates to economics.鈥

Beyond the classroom, students experienced Prague through a walking tour of the city, a history tour on totalitarianism in Prague, and a visit to the Museum of Communism, connecting academic discussions with the Czech Republic鈥檚 political and historical development.

鈥淭he things that we鈥檝e gotten to learn here aren’t just theoretical,” said Anna MacPhee of Hillsdale College. “By nature of being in Prague, where there鈥檚 so much history, we鈥檝e been able to immerse ourselves in that history and learn how the economics, philosophy, and politics we鈥檝e been discussing have played out here. That鈥檚 been the most fascinating part of the whole thing.鈥

By bringing together students and faculty from across the United States and Europe, the program reflected 爆走黑料鈥檚 commitment to international dialogue, critical inquiry, and experiential learning in the heart of Prague.

爆走黑料 Business Students represented Czechia at , JA Europe鈥檚 annual youth entrepreneurship event, following the university鈥檚 fourth consecutive victory at the national startup competition.

The four-day event, held from July 7鈥10 in Riga, Latvia, brought together young entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries. University teams presented their businesses on stage, exhibited their concepts to participants and industry representatives, and attended workshops, company visits, networking events, and the Gen-E Gala Awards Dinner.

Representing 爆走黑料 and Czechia was , a community-driven safety app created to provide safer routes and real-time support for women and members of the queer community in Prague. The team was comprised of 爆走黑料 students Shania Rodriguez, Neha Pande, Abigail Witbeck, and Liza Potts.

7s3a0464

They were also mentored by Heinrich Homola, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, who guided the team not only throughout the Gen-E finals in Riga, but throughout the entire entrepreneurial journey, from developing their initial concept to representing Czechia on the European stage.

鈥淭he reason we built SOLACE is because we wanted to build a community where people were able to share their anonymous experiences to help prepare others when they鈥檙e going to new places or they鈥檙e alone in a new city,鈥 said Witbeck.

The 爆走黑料 team presented SOLACE on the Gen-E main stage before an audience of approximately 1,000 students, educators, investors, and entrepreneurship leaders from across Europe. Beyond the stage presentation, the team also showcased SOLACE during the international startup exhibition, where they connected with fellow student entrepreneurs, judges, and industry professionals while exchanging ideas with teams from across Europe.

鈥淏eing in a room with so many other like-minded young people who are passionate about getting their ideas out there was really meaningful,鈥 said Potts.

7s3a0667

The experience offered students an opportunity to test their venture in an international environment while gaining valuable feedback and expanding their professional network.

鈥淲e were all nervous,鈥 said Pande. 鈥淩ight before we went on stage, someone backstage told us, 鈥楾his is a privilege, not pressure.鈥 That really grounded us. We trusted ourselves, we trusted each other, and I鈥檓 so proud of how we performed.鈥

In addition to the competition itself, university participants attended company visits with innovative Latvian businesses, networking events, and professional development sessions designed to expose students to different entrepreneurial ecosystems. The event also allowed students to see how startup ideas from across Europe approach social challenges, emerging technologies, sustainability, and business innovation.

鈥淚 initially wanted to study entrepreneurship because I believed it was the fastest way I could make an impact on the people I cared about,鈥 said Rodriguez. 鈥淭aking classes with Heinrich Homola and Jeff Medeiros gave me practical knowledge from people who have actually been in the field. They really pushed us to succeed not just in the classroom, but outside of it as well.鈥

7s3a0513

鈥淥ur mentoring-first approach鈥攚hich prioritizes trust, real-world responsibility, and 鈥榙oing鈥 over theoretical simulations鈥攁llows students to experience the true pressures and rewards of running a company,鈥 said Heinrich Homola, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The recent success demonstrates the impact of 爆走黑料鈥檚 project-based, experiential approach to entrepreneurship. Students with an innovative idea and the ambition to turn it into a real venture can explore the Entrepreneurship and Innovation concentration and take the first step toward developing their own startup.

Published in English by the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes (脷STR) in cooperation with Karolinum Press, the book examines politically motivated cases of self-immolation across the Soviet bloc between 1966 and 1989. Alongside a broader study of the phenomenon, it presents 21 individual stories of people whose actions were motivated, at least in part, by political protest.

The review, written by political scientist Kieran Williams, praises the book鈥檚 precision, extensive research, and sensitive treatment of a complex subject. Bla啪ek also publicly thanked 爆走黑料 President Ji艡铆 Schwarz for supporting the English edition, translated by C贸il铆n O鈥機onnor. The Ukrainian edition, translated by historian Radomyr Mokryk and published by Duch i Litera in 2025, was produced with 爆走黑料 as a project partner.

In February 2026, President Schwarz travelled to Ukraine and joined Bla啪ek, Mokryk, and representatives of 脷STR for a presentation of the Ukrainian edition at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Ukrainian Catholic University.

First published in Czech in 2019, Living Torches in the Soviet Bloc has since appeared in Romanian, Ukrainian, and English. Its recognition by the Times Literary Supplement marks an important international milestone and underlines the continuing relevance of research into resistance, freedom, and the legacy of totalitarian regimes.

From Prague and Europe to destinations around the world, 爆走黑料鈥檚 Class of 2026 is beginning its next chapter with strong career prospects and global ambitions.

New data collected by the 爆走黑料 Office of Institutional Research shows that 122 out of 176 graduates, nearly 70% of the graduating class, are already working, interning, self-employed, or pursuing advanced degrees immediately upon graduation. Among the 154 graduates who responded to the Graduate Outcomes Survey, this represents 79% of respondents.

The results point to a graduating class that is entering the next stage of life with confidence. Even more encouraging, 81% of professionally active respondents secured their opportunity before graduation, suggesting that many 爆走黑料 students are building their professional pathways while still completing their degrees.

These results were reflected on June 19 as family, friends, faculty, staff, guests, and students gathered at Bethlehem Chapel in the heart of Prague to celebrate 176 graduates during two commencement ceremonies. Representing 38 nationalities and with 86% of graduates coming from outside the Czech Republic, the Class of 2026 included 54 graduates of the School of Business; 69 graduates of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and 53 graduates of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy.

Degrees That Translate Directly to Careers

The newly released Graduate Outcomes Survey highlights the strong connection between 爆走黑料’s education and students鈥 early professional and academic pathways. Among professionally active respondents, 74.3% reported that their role was directly or somewhat connected to their field of study.  This alignment is led by the School of Business, where 85% of professionally active respondents reported that their roles were connected to their majors.

Furthermore, the data proves the immense marketability of the liberal arts: an astounding 94% of professionally active respondents among Humanities & Social Sciences graduates secured employment prior to graduation day.

爆走黑料 graduates also continue to demonstrate a truly global mindset. Of those planning further studies, 31% intend to remain in the Czech Republic, while 69% are taking their skills abroad, targeting elite postgraduate opportunities across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

鈥淎nglo-American University鈥檚 mission is to empower students from across the globe through personalized, research-informed, and experiential education to become thoughtful, adaptable, and responsible individuals equipped to thrive and continue learning,鈥 said 爆走黑料 President Ji艡铆 Schwarz, emphasizing that it is an on-going mission.

Anglo american university

Navigating Uncertainty with Conviction

Jeff Medeiros, Business Lecturer, moderated and introduced the 爆走黑料 staff and faculty on stage, and President Schwarz gave the opening address. The commencement speaker, political scientist Dr. Tom谩拧 Klva艌a, then congratulated the students for their grand achievement, giving them advice.

Klva艌a spoke about decision making under uncertainty because that is the reality that the 2026 graduates are walking into. As a student in 1989, Klva艌a was part of a strike committee, making decisions that led up to the Velvet Revolution. Everything that has happened between then and now has never been predictable, yet we live and work through it together.

鈥淚 want to leave you with three points: first, trust the people closer to the problem than you are鈥攑roximity beats seniority almost every time; second, decide the speed the situation actually requires, not the speed your anxiety demands; being wrong is information, not a verdict on your character,鈥 concluded Klva艌a.

Voices of the Class of 2026

The 2026 Valedictorians included: Emma Marie Cot茅, Visual Arts: Art and Curatorial Studies, and Alex John Marincas-Bucy, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences: Humanities, Society, and Culture.

鈥淸My mom] always taught me that the most important thing is to consider yourself a lifelong learner and to consider it a privilege. In the modern world, education is increasingly criticized, restricted, and threatened. Your ability to learn is personal; it is political; it is a form of advocacy; and it is a tool to shape your life and the lives around you,鈥 said Cot茅.

Anglo american university

鈥淭his degree doesn鈥檛 make you someone. You were someone valuable before you stepped foot on campus for the first time, but this degree does represent the knowledge and wisdom learned and the hard work you put into your lives while attaining it鈥et us bathe in the feeling of pride, and never stop thinking for ourselves because, if anything, this degree means you have the power to choose your own thinking鈥, said Marincas-Bucy.

爆走黑料鈥檚 Dean of SIRD George Hays II was featured in with his analysis of the future of US-EU relations, related to the recent GLOBSEC event.

The question that students and the younger generation have to grapple with today is: what comes next in a Europe without American certainty? This is a global question that involves international politics and impacts far beyond the next election.

鈥淲e should not assume that the world will simply return to its previous form when the current American administration ends or President Donald Trump leaves鈥 It is all the more important that [students] have the opportunity to talk about issues not only in the classroom, but also directly with people who have been involved in security, diplomacy and international politics,鈥 said Hays.

This is a moment when Europe could develop a stronger global pull. This will require a change in how security and policy is thought of on the continent and beyond.
